Shelter Story Project started the way most meaningful things do —
with a kid who just loved animals.

Founder Cameron began volunteering at animal shelters at age 10. That early experience planted something that never went away. Over the years, it grew into a decade of fostering animals, a role at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, and years volunteering at shelters in Salt Lake City, working hands-on to help find animals homes.

After years inside shelters, one thing became impossible to ignore: animals were being overlooked not because they weren't wonderful, but because nobody could see how wonderful they were. Grainy photos. Empty kennel cards. No story, no personality, no reason for a stranger scrolling their phone to stop and think that one.

The animals weren't the problem. The visibility was.

Shelter Story Project exists to fix that — with photography, storytelling, and the kind of daily digital presence that turns a shelter animal into someone's future best friend.

Our Mission

Helping shelter animals find homes through storytelling, visibility, and digital outreach — provided free of charge to shelter and rescue partners across Utah.

Our Vision

A future where no adoptable animal goes unnoticed. Where every shelter has the tools, content, and digital presence to tell each animal's story — and where that story reaches the right person at the right moment. We're starting in Utah and building a model that can travel anywhere animals need to be seen.
